When Proofreaders Cry

There is something inherently obnoxious when people tell you that media are not in any way capable of inciting feelings properly.

I've come to meet many friends in the last couple of months, mostly because they've shown to be great thinkers, intelligent and ready to consider the truth of claims & ideas that are foreign to their own. Frankly, though, I am amazed at the humanity of each and every one of them, how great people they seem to be. We've never made any exchange that would validate this friendship, but I am sure it is there - how much would empathy have to fail to be fooled in this regard!

One of these people who I have come to admire so much shared a true story with us; a story that he has experienced - first hand; a story that is both heart-wrenching and heart-warming. The best kind of story, I dare say.

Being in a position where I consider my opinion has merit, I was one of many who did go forth and suggested he should work more on it, preferrably publish it in one form or another. I can happily say that, while he initially only wished to share it with us, now he actually considered that advice and actually wanted to get on with it; in many ways, his enthusiasm dimmed our own, like the sun does a candle! I think it was inevitable that this idea took hold of us all, mesmerized by a true story that we could relate to (for various reasons), and most of us set to help any way we could.

Finally, he finished typing the story as he could summarize it so far; I am most thankful for him trusting me as one of his proofreaders, and I have a lot of things to share with him, including a great deal of polishing, but I can tell you this: it has been a long while since last I felt like this... Thank you for sharing this.

P.S.: This is not over, yet; expect more when it is completed!

Off topic comment ahead: I just wanted to remind you to post something about "Monster Love" sometime soon :p

Since you told me you actually liked the book, (and it's not an easy one to like, right?!) I can't wait to read a proper review!
