From the Diary of Dreams Concert

After my difficulty acquiring a ticket, as the sponsors had drawn them back to be sold at the entrance, I went yesterday by the place where the band would be playing; the ride was pretty uneventful: a simple quarter-of-an-hour trip to the train station on foot, another quarter to reach the junction with the Metro station, another quarter to reach Akropolē station and get there on foot...

I noticed some people who I expected that they were going to attend as well: no matter what we say to ourselves, a dress code is pretty much expected. I initially felt out of place, wearing a scarlet shirt over my black clothes, but I swept it away as best I could, reminding myself that being different is what we all are.

It was then that I entered the hall to get a ticket; it was evident there was some issue or another, of which I will make no mention for obvious reasons, so I waited patiently for them to resolve it. I must have taken a pretty stuffy pose, though, as the most polite woman at the entrance apologised twice to me; what made this all the more funnily apparent, however, was that the director of the event politely asked me if I was going to stand at the door for the event: being quite massive and with broad shoulders makes it quite easy to be mistaken for a "doorman." [lol]

Eventually I got my ticket and waited for RaZz and Bal to come along; it took them quit a while, but we eventually managed to find each other after a phone call by yours truly and settled by the other end of the street before they allowed people to file in.

The preconcert part was quite uneventful, apart from meeting a friend by chance, since I did not know he was also going to come, and the warm-up was quite nice, but the concert itself was a whole other thing: the sound was very, very clear, the band was perfect, the whole event smoked!

We all wanted to have them get back on stage, and they stayed on even after what is expected as an encore, keeping them up for some 5 or 6 more songs than is normal; but what truly made the night end most astoundingly was the last song, dedicated by Adrian Hates not only to the people who made it possible, but also to his best friend, who had died 4 days ago (that makes it 5 days ago, from this day). All our feeling were, I might say, quite tangible in the air, and he was teary - frankly, most of us could not quite believe the end to the concert.

I leave the task of retelling more about the concert itself to my aforementioned friends; in a sense, I'm still in awe. I can only say one thing: bravo!

One (and only) correction: His best friend's death was actually 4 weeks ago. Nonetheless, the song he then performed unplugged (She and Her Darkness) would be equally heartbreaking even if he dedicated it to his doc martens.

PS. You also forgot to mention the reason why Balidor is a fuckin' awesome Health Visitor :P

Yeah, sorry about that mistake...

And didn't that work out in reverse, as in, he make great earplugs because he's a fuckin' awesome Health Visitor? ;)
