Atrocity Record

It's very common for people to accuse atheism, as far as I've seen, for the crimes people such as Stalin, Pol Pot, and Hitler have commited, as if it was atheism that drove them to these actions; in these regard, any and all accusations targeting, in the most ironic of manners, science are quite similar indeed...

You see, I never believed it's religion that caused all evil - even Professor Dawkins was against giving the documentary "The Root of All Evil?" that title, a fact many people seem unaware of. I believe, though, that ignorance, prejudice, dogma, and all sorts of intellectual dishonesty inhibit our cognitive functions - a process called compartmentalisation which, along with projection, the practice of tagging ones own flaws in others as a sort of ego shield, strips us of what makes us human: our capacity to employ rationality and logic.

Thus, I mean to conduct a simple experiment: I'll try and record any and all data on cases that are atrocious by any reasonable standard, seen from all possible angles so that there's no inherent bias, and compile this in an archive that I will publish when I am satisfied with the accuracy, veracity and volume of data collected. I'll then estimate which notions have caused the most damage.

Whoever feels inclined to assist me, I'll gladly accept all help.

The first case I'll mention is that of a 8-year-old who went on her own to court to get divorced from her husband... Apparently, the court decided that dissolving the marriage was more appropriate, and made the family pay the husband about $250 in compensation! I'm awaiting any comments you may have...
